Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that reopening of schools is under the consideration of the government.

Speaking at his press meet, the chief minister said that Covid spread is tapering down to a stage with cause for no alarm and therefore, serious discussions are taking place about opening of educational institutions.

Talks with experts are also being held on the various aspects of this move. Along with this, the revivl of the trade and industrial sector also will be expedited. Suitable action to this end are being initiated.

With the opening of colleges, mechanisms for students' vaccination will be put in place. Students ill be required to have taken at least one dose of vaccine before entering the campus and those whose second dose is due should get that dose immediately. Students may contact health workers or ASHA workers to get their turn for vaccination.

Vaccination drive will be conducted jointly by the Directorates of Health and Higher Education. Higher Education directorate will consolidate the figures of students and teachers who are yet to receive the jab and will then hand it over to the health authorities. That will be followed by vaccination camps. The chief minister also said that no one should abstain from taking the vaccine.
