Alappuzha: The CBSE school in Alappuzha which had dismissed three students whose parents moved to court over fee reduction has decided to take them back. A report by Lok Adalat said that both the school and parents have decided to settle the matter, and the children can continue in the same school, according to The News Minute report.

The parents of three students, two in-class nine and the other in class eight, had approached the Kerala High Court last year asking to reduce the fee to Rs. 15,000 because the classes are being held online. The High Court ruled in favour of the parents after receiving more similar pleas. The court ordered schools to reduce fees by 15-20%.

As the new academic year rolled out in June 2021, Janasakthi Public School at Kayamkulam in Alappuzha abruptly dismissed the three students saying that the parents tainted the name of the school, reported the News Minute. Shocked by the blatant move by the school management, the parents approached Lok Adalat.

The school administration came under pressure after the media reports. The school has agreed not only to take the students back unconditionally but conduct special classes for the lessons they missed, said the TNM report.

The two-class nine students will be joining the Janasakthi Public School. But the class eight student and parents have decided to admit him to a new school citing emotional trauma.

The parent told The News Minute that the letter from the Principal stated that the teachers wrote a statement saying they cannot teach the students. 'My son was very hurt about this as he liked his teacher very much'.

Parents have expressed displeasure that the Child Rights Commission did not intervene.
