Kerala HC grants PC George conditional anticipatory bail
text_fieldsKochi: The Kerala High Court granted PC George a conditional anticipatory bail on a hate speech case and directed the police not to arrest him till Thursday. George is already out on bail for making a hate speech, IANS reported.
George had submitted before the court that he had been a legislator for 33 years and he would not run away from the law. Meanwhile, the high court mandated George not to speak with the media.
On Saturday, a lower court dismissed the anticipatory bail application filed by George for the problematic speech he made at an election meeting. In a similar case, he had gotten arrested on May 1 and was granted conditional bail.
After George once again delivered a hate speech while on bail, Kochi City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju said that George would be arrested as he had committed the same crime again. He cited that his second speech was against bail conditions. George had approached Ernakulam District and Sessions Court for anticipatory bail against the fresh case, the court dismissed it on Saturday.
On May 1, he was arrested for charges under IPC Sections 153A and 295A. After he got bail then, he met the media and ranted out, "The Judiciary in India is for justice, and the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, and his police had arrested me as a Ramzan gift to Islamic terror groups."
