Kerala Edu minister terms BJP member's misleading video on class 12 results ‘an act of terror’

Thiruvananthapuram: A BJP ward member in Kerala’s Kollam district has been arrested on a complaint by the Kerala Education Minister, V Sivankutty, for circulating a misleading video in connection with the recently released Class 12 results through his YouTube channel.

The accused, Nikhil Manohar, who is a ward member in the Poruvazhy Panchayat in Kollam district, claimed that the Class 12 results had been withdrawn shortly after its release. The Minister, who came across the video a few days after the incident, lodged a complaint against Nikhil with the Kerala police.

Minister Sivankutty, viewing this act as one of "terror" within the education sector, wasted no time in lodging a complaint against Manohar, leading to his subsequent arrest. Addressing the press during a conference, the Education Minister stated, "The police have apprehended the individual.

This is a grave offence committed against society and can be considered an act of terror within the education sector. The BJP should address the actions of its member. Furthermore, legal action has been initiated against him."

The misleading video, which was circulated through Nikhil Manohar's YouTube channel, caused confusion and panic among students and parents who had been eagerly awaiting the Class 12 results.

However, Minister Sivankutty assured the public that the video's content was completely false, and the results were indeed valid. He also revealed that the video had been promptly deleted after the police complaint was filed.

The Class 12 examination results for this year saw an overall pass percentage of 82.95%, with a total of 3,12,005 students successfully clearing the examination out of the 3,76,135 who appeared for it. The false information disseminated by Nikhil Manohar caused unnecessary distress among students during this significant milestone in their academic journey.
