Kochi: After a four-year gap of Covid induced break, Kochi Muziris Biennale, the fifth edition of the premier international contemporary art event is all set to enthrall aesthetes and tourists.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the colorful art festival at Fort Kochi Parade Ground on Monday evening. The four-month-long fiesta that celebrates the contemporary art scene across the globe with displays of artworks of both Indian and International maestros is curated by Shubigi Rao.

According to a statement released by Bose Krishnamachari, President of Kochi Biennale Foundation, despite the official beginning of the event from Monday, entry to certain venues, including the Aspinwall House, will commence only on December 23.

"All the delayed works are being completed on a war footing. The Students Biennale venue and invited art exhibits will open tomorrow (December 13). The Ernakulam Durbar Hall venue will be open to the public on December 14. Any other change in the programmes will be intimated to all through the media," Biennale Foundation's President's statement read.

The Students' Biennale, which is commencing from Tuesday is aimed at encouraging young talents, art by children and will run parallel to the main event. Various cultural programmes too are included.

Titled 'In Our Veins Flow Ink and Fire ', the amalgam of cosmopolitan art and culture this time will feature 200 major creative projects of 90 artists from different countries across the world and will be exhibited at 14 venues till April 10.

The entry fee for senior citizens is Rs 100, for adults is Rs 150, and for children Rs 50. A full-week ticket can be purchased for Rs 1000 and it's Rs 4000 for a month.

The dignitaries attending the inaugural function include ministers K.N. Balagopal, P. Rajeev, V.N. Vasan, P.A. Mohamed Riyas, and K Rajan, Kochi Mayor M. Anil Kumar, Hibi Eden MP, MLAs K.J. Maxi, K.N. Unnikrishnan, and T.J. Vinod, Kochi Biennale Foundation patron M.A. Yusuff Ali, Foundation Advisor and former minister for Culture M. A. Baby.
