Political murder: Hartal in Kasargod, Thrissur

Kannhangad: A hartal has been called in Thrissur and Kasargod by the BJP and CPI-M respectively in protest against the killing of their party workers in the districts.

The LDF is observing hartal in Kasargod on Saturday in protest against the murder of a CPI-M worker. 45-year-old Narayanan was killed Friday and his brother seriously injured when they were attacked allegedly by a group of RSS-BJP workers at Kayakunnu near here in Kasargod District.

Police forces were deployed in the area as tension prevailed after the incident.

BJP-RSS leadership here denied allegations that their workers were involved in the attack.

Narayanan and his brother Aravindan were attacked by a group of persons with sharp-edged arms Friday afternoon.

Narayanan died of stab injuries while seriously injured Aravindan had been admitted to a private hospital at Mangalapuram.

BJP called for a hartal in Kodakara and Puthukad panchayats in Thrissur to protest against the killing of Abhilash, one its workers. The BJP has accused the CPI-M of being behind the murder.
