Vijay's TVK organises first conference
text_fieldsThe new Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, founded by actor-politician Vijay, has officially begun its first State meeting. To support their leader, TVK officials and a large number of followers flocked to the location.
Thousands gathered at Vikravandi’s V Salai on Sunday for the first political conference of actor Vijay’s Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), an event aiming to leverage his extensive fan base.
Vijay laid out flowers to the photographs of language martyrs and freedom fighters at the venue as he arrived. At the venue's entrance, he used a remote control to raise the party's flag atop a 100-foot-tall pole. Later, he spoke to the crowd, ushering in a new era of politics in Tamil Nadu, the New Indian Express reported.
After the Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu song was recited, TVK treasurer Venkatraman administered the oath to the gathering. TVK officials and the party leader promised to honour the many soldiers who fought valiantly for the rights of Tamil people and to show gratitude to the fighters who gave their lives in the fight for the nation's freedom.
They pledge to eliminate differences based on gender, caste, religion, and place of birth, raise public awareness, and work towards complete equality of opportunity and rights. With solemnity, they declare their commitment to preserving the idea that every living being is equal.
Following the oath, the welcome address was given by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's general secretary, Bussy Anand. He stated, "We were a people's movement. You (Vijay) started Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam to create a political identity and recognition for us. Lakhs gathered here for this historical conclave only for you." Anand also welcomed Vijay's parents, who were present at the event.
An ideology song for the party was released with the tagline "Everyone is equal at birth." The song shows Vijay speaking, and he names the party's ideological luminaries as Periyar, Kamaraj, Ambedkar, Velu Nachiyar, and Anjalai Ammal, underlining the objective of creating an equal society without caste, religion, or gender distinctions.
"I am coming to work for the people through Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, following secular social justice ideologies," Vijay says. In the song, Vijay expresses his commitment to serving the people of Tamil Nadu based on "secular social justice ideologies."
Previously, the party had released its flag anthem.
Indirectly implying that Madurai is the second capital of Tamil Nadu, TVK wants to open a branch of the state secretariat there. TVK also adheres to a two-language policy, acknowledging the value of English while promoting Tamil as the primary language. Additionally, TVK supports the removal of the governor's position. Encroached agricultural land will be reclaimed.
In order to eradicate narcotics, a special law will be passed and padhaneer will be designated as the official state drink. To help the weaving community, government officials will have to wear cotton clothes twice a week.
The government will take action to guarantee that uniforms for students, medical personnel, and cleaning staff are purchased directly from the weavers. Giving the local weaving community the support it deserves.
To close the difference between the selling price of agricultural products and the price that consumers pay for them, a scientific approach will be used.
Water resource encroachments will be removed, and large-capacity storage dams will be built around the state. Karupatti milk will be sold through Aaavin parlours, and the palm industry will be enhanced.
