UP and Rajasthan recorded highest number of atrocities against Scheduled Caste: NCRB report
text_fieldsThe National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) states that Uttar Pradesh has recorded the highest number of incidents of atrocities against SCs with a count of 11,829, comprising 25.8 per cent of total cases. Observed statistics become relevant because UP houses the greatest number of Schedule Castes (SC), 413.6 lakhs based on 2019 projected population.
Rajasthan has the highest rate of total crime against SCs with 55.6 per cent. Among the 19 metropolitan cities with a population greater than 2 million, Jaipur is the worst performer with an alarming increase in the number of cases which is 4 times more of cases in 2017.
Total of 45,935 cases were registered for committing a crime against Scheduled Castes (SCs) last year in India, with an increase of 7.3 per cent above 2018 statistics. A significant rise in the crime rate from 21.2 to 22.8 observed in 2019 over its previous year, Crimes in India-2019 report published by NCRB underlines.
2019 recorded the highest IPC crime rate (241.2) since 1980, with an annual increase of 3 per cent. As per the report, over 51 lakh FIRs registered in India last year. NCRB report calls attention to the increasing crime rate of outrage against women in metro cities, which market a 7.8 per cent in 2019.most of these caused are classified under 'Assault on Women with Intent to Outrage her Modesty' (20.2 per cent), 'Kidnaping & Abduction of Women' (19.3 per cent) and 'Rape' (7.3 per cent). In addition, statistical analysis observing an alarming increase in cybercrimes based on Indian metro cities. There is an 81.9 per cent increase in cyber crimes last year along with an increase in cybercrime rate from 8.9 to 16.1 over 2018-19.
