text_fieldsHyderabad: In a sudden twist over the arrest of the Telugu actor Allu Arjun and the developments that followed, the husband of the deceased woman told reporters here that he wasn't aware that the actor was arrested and is ready to withdraw the case.
Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday from his home in a case of the death of a woman at the screening of his latest release, Pushpa 2: The Rule. The woman, who was with her son, lost her life in a stampede in an unexpected crowd allegedly caused by the surprise appearance of the actor at a movie theatre here.
Though Allu Arjun reached out and extended his mental and emotional support to the family and the woman’s son, who was grievously hurt and continues to be hospitalised, the woman’s family filed a complaint with the police. The actor was arrested based on the complaint on the day, and the Nampally Magistrate Court here sent the actor to 14-day judicial custody.
Now, the deceased woman’s husband appears and says that he was not aware of the arrest of the actor, and that the actor had nothing to do with the stampede where his wife lost her life. He told reporters that he was ready to withdraw the case.
The 35-year-old woman died, and her eight-year-old son was hospitalised in the incident, which took place on December 4 night when a large number of fans thronged the Sandhya theatre here to have a glimpse of the actor, PTI reported.
The city police have registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint lodged by the deceased woman's family.
Allu Arjun, on December 11, approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR registered against him in connection with the death of the woman.
