In response to mob violence sparked by the death of a tribal youth, authorities in Tripura have banned internet services and prohibited large gatherings in a district.

Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, according to police reports.

Tension persists in the tribal-dominated Ganda Twisa subdivision of Tripura's Dhalai district, despite the implementation of prohibitory orders and the deployment of a significant number of security forces.

The violence, which erupted on Friday night, escalated into acts of vandalism and arson following the death of a 20-year-old tribal youth named Parameshwar Reang. Officials reported that Reang succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault by members of another community on July 7.

The arrests made are allegedly linked to the assault on Reang.

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has engaged in discussions with the current Chief Minister Manik Saha, urging him to take necessary actions to stabilize the situation.

Tripura government sources have indicated that the situation is now under control, and peace meetings are being organized to maintain law and order. Additional security forces have been deployed to the affected area to ensure stability.
