Times Now anchor's on-air identity mixup breaks internet with memes
text_fieldsA video of Times Now channel anchor Rahul Shivshankar's case of mistaken identity during a live broadcast has broken the internet with hilarious memes flooding in.
The anchor was moderating a discussion about the current Russia-Ukraine crisis with the two panellists.
This viral video shows Shivshankar telling who he believes to be McAdams to go on the streets of Ukraine and fight alongside their men. He also refereed him as someone with 'colonial mindset'.
Shivshankar thought that he was speaking to Daniel McAdams, executive director of the Ron Paul Institute in the US as the names and titles of the two men were wrongly placed on air.
Shivshankar, therefore failed to realise that the guest he was speaking to was actually Bohdan Nahaylo, chief editor of Kyiv Post.
After more than a minute of shouting over each other, McAdams finally has to shout out to stop the debate and tells anchor the mistake that has been made.
While an exasperated McAdams replied: "I am Mr McAdams, I am Mr McAdams and I haven't said a word, so stop yelling at me."
Failing to realise his mistake, Shivshankar said: "I am not yelling at you. I am talking about Mr McAdams."
"I am Mr McAdams!" McAdams burst out.
Shivshankar, who then apologizes, said he got confused.
This comedy of errors has unleashed a meme fest on Twitter, leading to 'McAdams' trending.
"Craziest 2 minutes of TV news ever, with opposing guests on the Ukraine war hosted by Indian TV. the ending is a MUST watch," one Twitter user wrote.
"I am Mr McAdams and I haven't said a word" hugely qualifies to be a tshirt quote," another user wrote.
Meanwhile, McAdams has responded to the gaffe made by the Indian anchor and termed it hilarious.
"It seems the whole thing was a comedy of errors. Someone had mixed my name up with the Ukrainian guy and the host thought I was the guy going ballistic. I, of course, could not see the screen and could only see my camera, so I had no idea that they mixed up the names. I could only hear the host yelling and screaming at the person he thought was me," McAdams was quoted as saying by Clarion India.
