Lucknow: Three people belonging to the Christian community have been arrested by the UP police under the provisions of the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act. Arrests have been made in two separate cases wherein one of the cases a woman and her son and in another case, a man have been arrested for allegedly luring villagers to convert to Christianity.

In Sitapur, Geeta Masih and her son Anuj were apprehended on charges of enticing impoverished villagers to convert to Christianity. It is alleged that the mother-son duo even offered monetary incentives to one woman in exchange for her conversion. Investigations are currently underway to gather further evidence in the case.

According to SHO Alok Mani Tripathi from Sitapur Kotwali, the accused pair targeted economically disadvantaged individuals and utilized various deceptive tactics to persuade them to adopt Christianity. Locals have claimed that the duo also engaged in fraudulent activities by promising government jobs and marriages to unsuspecting victims.

Furthermore, it has been alleged that the arrested duo received assistance from a group based in Ghaziabad. Authorities are actively probing this allegation to determine the extent of involvement and potential accomplices.

In Rae Bareli's Koran village, another incident of attempted religious conversion came to light. Sonu Rawat, the prime suspect in this case, allegedly attempted to coerce a villager into converting to Christianity. However, locals Kamla Devi and Munna Singh intervened, leading to an altercation with Rawat. Subsequently, Rawat managed to escape, leaving the scene.

SHO Kushwaha initiated an investigation, resulting in Sonu Rawat being booked under the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act. The authorities are actively searching for Rawat to apprehend him and bring him to justice.
