They changed name from UPA to INDIA to hide their past wrongdoings: PM Modi

Sikar, Rajasthan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took on Opposition alliance’s new name INDIA saying it was picked up to hide their wrongdoing of the past.

PM Modi was addressing party workers in Sikar, Rajasthan when he attacked the Opposition’s change of name from UPA to INDIA.

‘They (Opposition) changed their name from UPA to INDIA to hide how you schemed against the poor,’ PM Modi said.

He said the Congress and its allies changed name much like how fraud companies earlier had done.

"They have changed their name so that they can remove the stain of capitulating in front of terrorism. Their ways are similar to that of the country's enemy. The name INDIA is not to show their patriotism but with an intention to rob the country," he added.

The Prime Minister hit out at the Gehlot administration in Rajasthan too, bringing up sacked cabinet minister Rajendra Gudha’s claim that there is an incriminating ‘red diary’ against Gehlot.

Producing the ‘red diary’ in the assembly, Gudha earlier claimed that it contained details of irregular financial transactions of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

PM Modi laughed at the Congress saying that ‘red diary is fresh project’ of the grand old party, alleging that it contains ‘dark deeds of the Congress’, which he predicted would defeat the party in the state. The BJP has long been eyeing Rajasthan where the polls are due shortly.
