Thackeray's Shiv Sena office in Thane demolished
text_fieldsThane: Team Thackeray's Shiv Sena office in Kalyan-Dombivali Municipality, Thane was demolished by corporation officials on Saturday. It was one of the eight outlets that were razed as part of an anti-encroachment drive.
The KDMC's encroachment department said Shiv Sena's public relations office situated near the Vithalwadi area was not constructed on a plot reserved for ground. KDMC ward officer Kavita Hile said the structures were encroachments and the razing was carried out after following all civic rules, including issuing notices.
Local Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ramakant Devlekar alleged that the demolition action was due to his refusal to join Eknath Shinde's faction. He claimed other illegal structures in the area were not touched. Shiv Sena workers in the area held a protest against the demolition.
Asha Rasal, city vice president of Uddhav-led Shiv Sena said the office was 17 years old and KDMC has acted under pressure from the ruling party. "If KDMC does not act against other illegal constructions in the city then we will hold protests for an indefinite period outside KDMC's ward offices," she added.
