A day after a Jama Masjid in Jalalpur village of Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district was vandalised, a local Hindu entrepreneur visited the site and offered support for its restoration, a move that community representatives described as an expression of communal harmony.

Rajendra Agarwal, managing director of Rama Conductors, went to the mosque on February 18 along with members of the Majlis Bachao Tehreek. During the visit, he met Sheikh Mohammed Saleem, who heads the mosque committee, and reviewed the extent of the damage caused in the attack.

Agarwal handed over financial assistance to help repair the boundary wall, doors and public address system, and indicated that additional support would be extended if needed. A video of the visit later circulated online, showing committee members explaining the damage and losses suffered, Maktoob Media reported.

Saleem said the gesture had come as a surprise and expressed appreciation for the support, noting that it underscored the idea that compassion transcends religious identity.

MBT spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan told Maktoob that the act reflected the continuing tradition of social harmony in Telangana. He said that while some individuals try to sow division by targeting places of worship, others respond by reinforcing unity, and that such gestures show ordinary citizens rejecting attempts to polarise communities in favour of mutual respect.

The mosque had been attacked late on the night of February 15 by unidentified persons, with worshippers discovering the damage the next morning. Parts of the structure, including walls, windows, washroom doors and the sound system, were found broken, while copies of the Quran were reportedly desecrated and strewn across the premises, along with empty liquor bottles.

Police have registered a case against unknown persons and said an investigation is in progress.
