Sanjay Singh alleges 5 lakh duplicate voters remain in Bihar rolls despite EC revision
text_fieldsPatna: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh has alleged that five lakh duplicate entries remain in Bihar’s electoral rolls despite the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
Addressing reporters on Friday, Singh claimed that the revision process had failed to eliminate fraudulent entries and added that around one lakh voters were listed without identifiable names. “A huge electoral fraud has been committed in Bihar through the SIR,” he said.
AAP is contesting 83 seats in the upcoming assembly elections, scheduled in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting set for November 14.
Singh further accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of acting in favour of the BJP. “I must say that Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner, is working as an agent of the BJP,” he alleged.
He criticised the Election Commission for not addressing its original mandate, which included identifying and removing foreign nationals, infiltrators, Bangladeshis, and Rohingyas from the voter rolls. “Now the EC is not talking about these issues,” Singh said.
The AAP leader also claimed that the SIR process had resulted in the deletion of 80 lakh voter names across the state.
Officials at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Patna were not immediately available for comment on the allegations.
