Amethi: The police in Uttar Pradesh had hard time controlling a Samajwadi Party legislator when he assaulted a BJP leader’s husband at the police station in Amethi district.

A footage showed Samajwadi Party legislator Rakesh Pratap Singh attacking Deepak Singh, the husband of Rashmi Singh, a BJP candidate for municipal polls, inside the Gauriganj Kotwali, according to NDTV.

Dozens of police personnel were present at the station when Rakesh Pratap Singh lost cool, going at Deepak Singh.

The Samajwadi Party leader later claimed that he lost temper after Deepak Singh verbally abused him, arriving at the station, as he was staging a sit-in protest.

Rakesh Pratap Singh said he was protesting against police inaction over Deepak Singh and his supporters’ assaulting of his supporters.

It is reported that Deepak Sigh arrived at the station in the midst of the protest and abused the Samajwadi Party legislator and his supporters.

The situation, reportedly according to the police, went out of hand as the two political rivals came face-to-face.

The report further added that police have registered a case against both of them.
