Jaipur: Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed his acceptance of the recent party decision to field Ashok Gehlot loyalist Shanti Dhariwal from the Kota North assembly seat in Rajasthan.

He emphasised the importance of moving forward and focusing on the upcoming elections instead of dwelling on past events.

Speaking during an interview while travelling to Indore in Madhya Pradesh for a campaign trail, Pilot described the ticket distribution as "very fair," emphasising the party's commitment to selecting candidates based on their prospects of winning. He stressed that the primary objective now is to ensure the victory of all candidates nominated by the Congress, reported PTI.

Pilot, guided by the advice of party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, adopted a philosophy of "forgive, forget, and move on." He refrained from engaging in a dialogue concerning past issues and advocated for maintaining dignity in political discussions.

Regarding the selection of candidates, Pilot explained that the decision-making process in Congress does not solely rest on an individual. Instead, it involves the newly-elected MLAs and leadership in Delhi, who collectively make decisions after securing a majority.

Acknowledging the dissent within the party following the announcement of candidate lists, Pilot viewed the surplus of aspirants vying for a single seat positively. Despite the challenge of satisfying everyone, he highlighted the party's effort to distribute tickets based on winnability after considering feedback, surveys, and leadership opinions.

Regarding Shanti Dhariwal's nomination, Pilot refrained from delving into individual allocations, expressing contentment with the party's decision. He stressed the importance of ensuring the victory of nominated candidates, emphasising that dwelling on past issues during election times is counterproductive.

Reflecting on the 2020 rebellion against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's government, Pilot underscored the significance of addressing raised concerns. He expressed satisfaction with the progression since then, mentioning the formation of a committee by the AICC to address the issues and their subsequent resolution.

Pilot emphasised that the primary focus should be on ensuring the Congress's victory in the upcoming elections rather than speculating on positions or individuals. He reaffirmed the Congress's tradition of deciding responsibilities based on electoral mandates and the collective decision-making process involving elected representatives and leadership.
