New Delhi: Delhi's traffic landscape is set to undergo temporary changes as the entry of commercial and heavy vehicles from Noida and Ghaziabad to the city will be curtailed from Monday night till August 15.

This strategic move aims to streamline traffic during the Independence Day celebrations and involves the careful diversion of these vehicles through alternate routes, as stated by Delhi traffic police officials on Sunday.

In anticipation of the Independence Day festivities, approximately 3,000 diligent traffic police personnel will be deployed across key intersections within the national capital, as well as on the roads connecting the border areas to the iconic Red Fort, reported ANI.

The Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), SS Yadav, emphasised the implementation details, saying, "From the night of August 14 at 10 pm, entry of heavy and medium goods vehicles (vehicles carrying goods) will be stopped from Delhi's border, and entry will start only after the programme ends on the next day, August 15."

To ensure a systematic flow of traffic during the event, certain segments of crucial routes like JLN Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Ring Road, particularly near the Red Fort, will witness controlled vehicle movement. This measure is aimed at maintaining an organized traffic environment.

Despite these restrictions, authorities have taken comprehensive measures to safeguard the continuity of essential services, sparing them from any potential disruptions. A substantial police presence around the Red Fort will be instrumental in guiding attendees, while dedicated parking arrangements have been set up to accommodate both regular citizens and foreign diplomats who are expected to grace the celebrations at the Red Fort.
