New Delhi: After spending months on the road, Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will conclude in Srinagar on Monday.

Of the 21 parties that the Congress leadership invited to show up at the concluding programme, only 12 parties will join the Yatra at the last leg.

Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and TDP chose not to attend the function because of security concerns.

Opposition parties that will attend the function include Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Janata Dal (United), Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena, CPI(M), CPI, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP), and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), according to NDTV.

Started from Kanyakumari on 7 September, Bharat Jodo Yatra involved huge legwork of covering 3,570 kilometres across India in over 150 days.

The political movement, targeting the BJP administration at the centre, is primarily aimed at revitalizing Congress cadre at the grassroots.

Rahul Gandhi, according to several independent observers, gained tremendous media attention all along with his stump speeches and press conferences at stopovers.

Since the Yatra entered Kashmir, there have been concerns of security threats and the Congress leadership frequently complained about lapses in the security arrangements to the leader.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday sought personal intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure adequate security for the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We are expecting a huge gathering to join the yatra over the next two days and also the function that will be held on January 30 at Srinagar. Many senior Congress leaders and leaders of other important political parties are attending the culmination functions to be held on January 30," Mr Kharge reportedly wrote to the Home Minister.

Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday joined brother Rahul Gandhi as the Yatra resumed from the Chersoo village in Awantipora.
