New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday issued a strong warning, stating that India would face destruction if the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) gained complete control over the education system. Addressing a protest organised by student organisations affiliated with the INDIA bloc, Gandhi accused the RSS of systematically taking over the country’s educational institutions and undermining its future.

“One organisation is determined to destroy the future and the education system of this country—the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. If they fully take over education, which is happening gradually, this nation will collapse. No one will find jobs, and the country will be finished,” Gandhi asserted while speaking at the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

He cautioned that RSS influence was already visible in the appointment of vice-chancellors in Indian universities and warned that state university appointments could soon be dictated by the organisation’s recommendations. “Students must be made aware that Indian universities are increasingly being controlled by the RSS. If this continues, vice-chancellors in state universities will soon be appointed based on their directives. We have to stop this,” he urged.

Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent statements in Parliament, Gandhi pointed out that the PM had spoken about the Maha Kumbh but failed to address pressing issues such as unemployment and inflation. “The prime minister remains silent on unemployment, inflation, and the education system. Their model is clear—hand over the country’s resources to Adani and Ambani while giving institutions to the RSS,” he alleged.

Addressing the protestors, Gandhi reaffirmed the unity of the INDIA bloc in defending the education system. “You are students of the INDIA bloc. While we may have some ideological and policy differences, we will never compromise on education. We will fight this battle together and push back the RSS,” he declared.

Last month, Gandhi had participated in a protest against the draft University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations led by the DMK. He accused the UGC’s proposed rules on teacher appointments of being a deliberate move to advance the RSS agenda and impose a singular narrative on the country. “This is an attempt to enforce ‘one history, one tradition, one language’ in India,” he alleged, calling for collective resistance against the move.
