Rahul Gandhi leaves Nepal after 'controversial' trip
text_fieldsKathmandu: Days after his controversial visit to a night club here, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi left Kathmandu for home on Thursday evening.
On May 3 a viral video emerged showing Rahul Gandhi at a nightclub in the capital city along with a woman.
There was a discotheque going at the background with people around him seemingly having alcohol.
The unseemly video caught the Congress leadership back home in tenterhooks while BJP attacked Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi had arrived in Kathmandu on Monday to attend the wedding of his friend, Sumnima Udas, who previously worked with the CNN.
After the video emerged, the Congress had to run the gauntlet of questioning media and its own workers.
Some even went to the extent of alleging Rahul was cozying up with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi at the night club, IANS reported.
Both security agencies in Kathmandu and nightclub owner clarified the lady seen with Rahul was not Chinese Ambassador.
She turned out to be a relative of the bride who had arrived from the US recently.
Despite rumours doing rounds, Rahul Gandhi kept mum over the incident.
Rahul left for home a day earlier than his planned stay in Nepal; the wedding reception was to happen on Friday evening.
He took a regular Vistara flight to Delhi on Thursday evening, a senior security official told IANS.
