Rajya Sabha MP and Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha on Tuesday welcomed the Centre’s direction to halt 10-minute delivery commitments, calling it a major victory for gig workers who have been protesting and demanding work conditions and pay.

Chadha reacted after Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya asked major food delivery and quick-commerce platforms to do away with strict 10-minute delivery promises.

In a post on X, Chadha said, “Satyamev Jayate. Together, we have won,” and thanked citizens who stood “on the side of human life, safety and dignity.” He assured gig workers of continued support from himself and the public.

He also expressed gratitude to the Centre for what he described as a timely and compassionate intervention in removing 10-minute delivery branding from platforms. Chadha said such branding puts real and constant pressure on delivery riders, especially when the time commitment is displayed on uniforms and customer screens.

The labour ministry held discussions with representatives of Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy, and Zomato, advising them to remove strict delivery deadlines from their platforms and promotional material in the interest of worker safety.

Chadha has been vocal in supporting gig workers’ demands for fair wages, improved working conditions, and social security. On Monday, he released a video in which he wore a Blinkit uniform and accompanied a delivery rider while completing an order. On December 31 last year, he also spent New Year’s Eve with gig workers, many of whom were participating in a nationwide strike.

Quick-commerce companies, including Blinkit, Zepto, Zomato, and Swiggy, have begun removing their 10-minute delivery claims from platforms following an intervention by the Union Labour Ministry, government sources said.

According to officials, Blinkit has already complied with the directive and revised its branding. The company’s tagline has been changed from “10,000+ products delivered in 10 minutes” to “30,000+ products delivered at your doorstep.” Other platforms such as Zepto, Zomato, and Swiggy are expected to make similar changes in the coming days.
