New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu visited Prayagraj on Monday to participate in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, where she took a sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.
Upon arrival, she was warmly received by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. President Murmu is set to spend over eight hours in Prayagraj, deeply engaging with the spiritual and cultural essence of the Kumbh Mela.
Before performing the ritual bath, she fed migratory birds at the Sangam, symbolizing her reverence for nature and its harmony with spiritual traditions.
Following the holy dip, President Murmu is scheduled to visit the sacred Akshayavat tree, an ancient symbol of immortality in Sanatan culture, revered in Hindu scriptures as a representation of eternal life.
She will also offer prayers at the historic Bade Hanuman Temple, seeking blessings for the nation's well-being and prosperity.
Beyond religious engagements, the President will explore the Digital Maha Kumbh Experience Centre, a state-of-the-art facility that provides visitors with an immersive, technology-driven experience of the grand festival.
Security measures across Prayagraj have been significantly heightened in light of her visit. This momentous occasion echoes history, as she follows in the footsteps of India's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who had also taken a holy dip during a past Kumbh Mela.
President Murmu is expected to conclude her visit and return to New Delhi by 5:45 PM, leaving behind a moment of great cultural and spiritual significance for devotees attending the Maha Kumbh.
