New Delhi: According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan release, President Droupadi Murmu will make her first address to the nation on August 14—the night before the 76th Independence Day.

The president's speech will be telecast in Hindi starting at 7 p.m. on the entire national network of All India Radio (AIR) and then in English on all of Doordarshan's channels.

"Broadcast of the address in Hindi and English on Doordarshan will be followed by broadcast in regional languages by regional channels of Doordarshan. AIR will broadcast regional language versions at 9.30 p.m. on its respective regional networks," the statement read.

Ms Murmu, 64, a Santhal tribal hailing from Odisha, took oath as the 15th president on July 25. She is the youngest and first tribal to hold the top constitutional post.

She is the first president to be born after independence.

On August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the Red Fort's ramparts.

In order to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and hoist it to celebrate India's 75th anniversary of independence, Prime Minister Modi launched the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign last month. According to the Ministry of Culture, the initiative's goals are to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and instil a sense of nationalism in the hearts of the populace.

In order to commemorate India's Independence Day, he also invited the populace to raise the tricolour at their residences between August 13 and August 15.
