The Kolkota Police have revealed that they believe that businessman Subir Chaki and his driver were murdered in cold blood as the killers had pre-planned the incident and brought weapons along with them. Chaki and his driver Mondal were both found dead of multiple stab wounds in Chaki's ancestral home at South Kolkota's Gariahat area on Saturday night.

"Preliminary probe and circumstantial evidence hinted at a well-planned murder. That is why they (killers) had brought knives with them," the officer of Kolkata Police Homicide department said. Chaki (61) is the managing director of Kilburn Engineering. His body and that of his driver were found on different floors of the house which he had reportedly put up for sale. Investigating officers believe that he may have reached there late at night to meet a prospective buyer or broker. He is survived by a wife, mother and two children.

It was his wife Anuradha who had alerted neighbours in the area as he did not come home, following which the neighbours called the police who found the bodies. A sniffer dog tracked the suspects from the house to the nearby Ballygunge railway station which the police believe the suspects used to get away by train. It is possible that the killers were hired as the weapons used in the double murder were not found from the spot.
