PM Modi’s hands were shaking when he drank water: Rahul Gandhi
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked why his words were taken off the record in the parliament despite his having used the most polite language, that too with the backing of proof.
He told a meeting in Kerala’s Wayanad that PM Modi directly insulted him by asking why his surname was Gandhi not Nehru.
Rahul Gandhi said PM Modi’s hands were shaking as he drank water several times during his speech.
“PM thinks he is very powerful and people will get scared of him. PM doesn't realise the absolute last thing I'm scared of is Narendra Modi” he reportedly said.
The Parliament saw Rahul Gandhi directly taking on PM Modi accusing him of offering cronyistic help to the Adani Group.
Subsequently, BJP MP Nihikant Dubey filed a notice for breach of privilege alleging Rahul Gandhi’s remarks were "misleading, derogatory, indecent, unparliamentary, undignified and incriminatory in nature".
But the Congress relentlessly dug its heels stressing that expunging Gandhi's remarks was an attack on democracy.
After the BJP called it “unparliamentary”, Gandhi's linking of PM Modi to the meteoric rise of the billionaire since 2014 was removed from the records.
The Prime Minister in his reply to a debate on the President's speech in Rajya Sabha asked why “none of them use the Nehru surname’, despite Nehru being a great person.
"According to the rules, parts of a speech can be removed from the record if you are saying something without support or if you are insulting anyone" Gandhi said.
Rahul expressed doubt whether his writing to the Lok Sabha Speaker offering proof for his allegations would help restore his expunged speech.
