PM Modi to visit Northeast states, launching development projects worth over ₹90,000 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar from September 13 to 15 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of major development projects across these states.

His visits are expected to boost infrastructure, healthcare, energy, education, and transport networks, with projects valued at over ₹90,000 crore.

The visit will begin in Mizoram, where PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects worth more than ₹9,000 crore in Aizawl at around 10 am.

These include the Bairabi-Sairang new railway line project worth over ₹8,070 crore, as well as the launch of three new express trains connecting Sairang to Delhi, Guwahati, and Kolkata. He will also inaugurate the Residential School at Kawrthah, which is part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram scheme.

Later that day, the PM will visit Manipur and lay the foundation for projects worth over ₹7,300 crore at Churachandpur.

These include the Manipur urban roads, drainage, and asset management improvement project worth over ₹3,600 crore, and five national highway projects valued at more than ₹2,500 crore. He will also announce the Manipur Infotech Development project and hostels for working women at nine locations. At around 12:30 pm, he will begin the foundation stone ceremonies and, by 2:30 pm, inaugurate development projects worth over ₹1,200 crore in Imphal, followed by a public address.

In Assam, PM will participate in celebrations in Guwahati on September 13 to mark the 100th birth anniversary of legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika. The next day, on September 14, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects worth over ₹18,530 crore.

Key projects include the Darrang Medical College & Hospital, a GNM School, and a B.Sc. Nursing College. He will also announce the Guwahati Ring Road Project, an Assam Bioethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery, and the foundation stone of the Polypropylene Plant at the same refinery.

On September 15, PM Modi will travel to Kolkata to inaugurate and address the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025. This event is a top-level forum where India’s civilian and military leadership come together to exchange views and shape the future of the armed forces.

In Bihar, the prime minister’s schedule is equally extensive.

He will launch the National Makhana Board and inaugurate the Interim Terminal Building at Purnea Airport, which will improve passenger handling. He will also lay the foundation stone for projects worth around ₹36,000 crore at Purnea, including a ₹25,000 crore thermal power project at Pirpainti, Bhagalpur. Additionally, he will inaugurate Phase 1 of the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project, valued at over ₹2,680 crore.

The prime minister will also unveil railway projects and flag off multiple trains in Bihar. These include the foundation stone for the Bikramshila–Katareah rail line, costing ₹2,170 crore, which will provide a direct link across the Ganga. He will inaugurate the new rail line between Arariya and Galgalia (Thakurganj) worth ₹4,410 crore. Modi will also flag off the Araria–Galgalia section, the Vande Bharat Express, and the Amrit Bharat Express trains.

As part of rural development efforts, PM Modi will inaugurate the Sex Sorted Semen Facility at Purnea under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission. The facility will help small and marginal farmers and landless laborers increase dairy productivity and incomes. He will also distribute Community Investment Funds of about ₹500 crore to Cluster Level Federations under the DAY-NRLM scheme in Bihar.
