PM Modi to spend Diwali with soldiers in Kargil

New Delhi: Prime Narendra Modi will be celebrating Diwali with Indian soldiers. He arrived in Kargil on Monday, PTI reported.

The PM said that it was a privilege to spend Diwali with the brave Jawans of Kargil.

The Prime Minister's office said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has landed in Kargil, where he will celebrate Diwali with our brave soldiers."

After coming to power in 2014, PM Modi spent his Diwali celebrations with various military facilities.

Earlier on Monday, he conveyed his Diwali greeting to the nation.

"Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali. Diwali is associated with brightness and radiance. May this auspicious festival further the spirit of joy and well-being in our lives. I hope you have a wonderful Diwali with family and friends," Modi tweeted.

President Droupadi Murmu also extended her Diwali wishes to the nation. "Happy Diwali to all countrymen! On this holy festival of light and joy, let us try to bring happiness to the lives of those in need by lighting the lamp of knowledge and energy. On this great festival, I pray for happiness and prosperity in the lives of all the countrymen," Murmu wrote on Twitter in Hindi, reported Asian News International.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted, "Greetings on Deepavali. May the festival of light bring brightness and joy all around."
