Patna: In their drive to rally all opposition parties in an anti-BJP front for the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his Deputy Tejashwi Yadav are travelling to Chennai on Tuesday, mainly to persuade Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to attend the mega Opposition meet slated to take place in Patna on Friday.
The move assumes significance given the reported hesitation of Stalin to attend the meeting. Nitish and Tejashwi will return home on Wednesday.
During their stay, Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi will also take part in an event held to honour late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
The Bihar Chief Minister had already insisted on the attendance of top level leaders of all opposition parties in order to have a meaningful gathering for mobilising all anti-BJP forces; he said without them the conclave would not have any value.
The leaders who have so far confirmed their participation are Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Benerjee, Hemant Soren, Akhilesh Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Sitaram Yechuri and D. Raja.
