The 81-year-old will be kept in the hospital for three days. He is likely to be discharged on November 2. On Thursday, he is expected to go to Shirdi in Ahmednagar district and participate in the NCP's two-day training camp on November 4-5. He is also scheduled to take part in the Congress 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' on November 8. The march enters Maharashtra on November 7 via Nanded.
The party is keeping the nature of the chief's illness under wraps. An official said he has been experiencing weakness after visiting flood-hit regions of Pune. Some sources claimed he was suffering from a severe bout of cough, reported India Today.
"According to the request made by the state general secretary of the party Shivajirao Garje through an official letter, all office bearers and workers of the Nationalist Congress Party should not gather outside the hospital," said NCP in a statement.
