text_fieldsFor the third time in the last four months, a local court on Friday acquitted four accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots case citing lack of evidence. Twenty men accused of murdering a man were acquitted in October last year and five in December.
Victims Naeem and his two brothers Nadeem and Shaukat filed a case against the accused Yogendra, Nitin Guddu, Vishal, and a dozen others for attacking their house on September 8, 2017.
The case was filed on September 28, 2013, at the Phugana police station. The attackers were armed with firearms and sharp-edged weapons, the complaint read. The accused assaulted him and his family, ransacked the house, and looted more than Rs 3 lakh before setting the house on fire, Naeem added.
"The complainant and his two brothers, who were witnesses in the case, became hostile. Therefore, judge Babu Ram's court (additional district and sessions judge court-6) has acquitted the accused." Said Defence lawyer Sohrab Singh.
