A viral social media video on Sunday created confusion after a man claiming to be Mahakumbh fame Monalisa’s husband, Farman Khan, alleged that she had gone missing. It has now been clarified that the person in the video was not Khan, but his lookalike.

In a clarification video, the man identified himself as Arvind Kumar Joshi from Balotra in Rajasthan. He said the video was made for entertainment purposes and denied being Farman Khan or any person associated with the case. “Mera purpose nahi tha vo video banane ka, maine video entertainment ke liye banaya tha, jo Farhan ya Farman merko samaj rahe ho vo main nahi hu,” he said.

In the now-viral clip, the lookalike had falsely claimed he had reached Jodhpur and would continue searching for Monalisa throughout the day, while also asking the public to inform him if they had any information about her whereabouts.

Monalisa’s family has alleged that she is missing and accused Farman Khan of being behind her disappearance. Her mother, Lata Bhai, said Monalisa had contacted her about 15–20 days earlier, but the call was interrupted when Farman allegedly snatched the phone.

Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court has extended the stay on the arrest of Farman Khan until May 20 in connection with a Madhya Pradesh abduction case. The order was issued by Justice Kausar Edappagath while considering an anticipatory bail plea filed by the couple.

The couple had stated before the court that they fell in love while acting in a Malayalam film and got married in Kerala on March 11. The court had earlier stayed their arrest on March 23, noting that they were “residing as husband and wife”, and later extended the protection on April 8, now till May 20.

Separately, Kerala Police clarified there was no lapse on their part in the marriage registration process. In a report submitted to the DGP, police said Monalisa’s age was verified as 18 based on her Aadhaar card, which was checked through the official online portal.

Earlier developments in the case had brought Monalisa into the spotlight after she gained attention during the Kumbh Mela and later came to Kerala. She had approached the Thampanoor police station seeking protection to marry her lover, after which her marriage was reportedly conducted with the involvement of political leaders in Kerala. However, later investigations found she was a minor, leading Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone police to register a POCSO case against Farman Khan.

Following interventions by the National Human Rights Commission and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, and directions from the Madhya Pradesh government, Monalisa’s actual date of birth was confirmed, leading to the POCSO case registration at Maheshwar police station.
