New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi told officials to deliver the proposals for the agriculture sector of Budget 2022-23, from April 1- the first day of the new financial year. While addressing a webinar on Thursday on the positive impact of the Budget, Modi said that it could transform the agricultural sector, The Indian Express reported.

Modi said that they have the whole month of March in hand, and the Budget has already been presented in the Parliament. The preparations must be completed in March and roll out the schemes the month after. This would be way before the start of the new agricultural year in June and July.

Modi asked the officials to engage the corporate, financial, start-ups and technological worlds in the effort. He claimed that the agricultural Budget had grown manifold in just six years, while agrarian loans grew 2.5 times in the last seven years. Also, in the same period, they had formed many new systems and improved the old systems.

Modi, reminding that the PM-Kisan scheme was launched on the same day three years ago, claimed that today the scheme had become considerable support for the small farmers of the country.

Nearly Rs 1.75 lakh crore has been given to 11 crore farmers of the country. He said that transferring money directly to the farmers' account in one click was something worth pride for every Indian.

He further urged the officials to reduce India's dependence on imports of goods pertaining to agriculture. India is an agricultural country and should grow all commodities relating to it at home to meet its requirement.
