Meat found at Hyderabad temple, police launch investigation
text_fieldsA tense situation unfolded in Hyderabad’s Tappachabutra area on Wednesday morning after pieces of meat were discovered near the Shiva Lingam inside the Jirra Hanuman Temple.
The incident sparked outrage among local residents and devotees, who suspected it to be an act of desecration.
Upon discovering the meat, worried devotees alerted the police, who promptly arrived at the scene to take control of the situation. Members of the BJP, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) joined the protest outside the temple, demanding action against those responsible.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Chandra Mohan confirmed that authorities are investigating the matter and analysing CCTV footage to determine how the meat ended up inside the temple.
“It could have been an animal, such as a cat or a dog, or a person who placed the meat there. We are thoroughly investigating the incident, and if any individual is found responsible, strict action will be taken,” he told The Indian Express.
As of now, police have not identified any suspects.
The discovery led to protests in the area, with around 50 local residents gathering outside the temple in the morning. As the day progressed, activists from BJP, BJYM, and VHP joined the agitation, continuing the demonstration into the afternoon.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further unrest.
