The wedding took place on May 3 in Berlin, Germany.

Moitra, born on October 12, 1974, in Assam, began her professional journey as an investment banker before entering politics. She joined the Trinamool Congress in 2010 and has since risen to national prominence. First elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019 from Krishnanagar, West Bengal, she secured re-election in 2024. Moitra is well known for her powerful speeches in Parliament, especially one where she warned of the “seven signs of fascism.”

An alumnus of St. Stephen’s College and the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, Misra began his political career with the Indian National Congress, winning the Puri seat in 1996.
