Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Thursday announced its decision to extend the statewide lockdown till June 1. Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte issued the notification extending the lockdown provisions from 7 AM on May 15 to 2 AM on June 1 after all Shiv Sena-Nationalist Congress Party-Congress ministers supported an extension at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
As per the new directives, Mumbai suburban trains will only permit essential services and not regular commuters. The state has also made it mandatory for anyone entering the state by any means of transport to carry a covid negative report issued within 48 hours of their arrival. The local disaster management authorities will also keep tight vigils over rural markets and APMCs.
