Made a ‘mistake’: Dharmasthala case complainant Sujatha Bhatt says
text_fieldsDharmasthala: The woman, who filed a complaint claiming her daughter was missing linking it to Dharmasthala mass burial case, said her complaint was a ‘mistake’, Siasat daily reported.
Sujata Bhat earlier complained to the Belthangady police that her daughter Ananya Bhatt had gone missing in 2003, triggering a controversy.
Bhatt told reporters that her actions were ‘haunting her’ adding ‘I will go to Dharmasthala to seek public forgiveness and bow before Lord Manjunatha and Shri Veerendra Heggade’.
Claiming that she is not part of any ‘gang’ , Bhat appealed not to link her with the burude (skeleton) gang allegedly behind conspiracy, adding that ‘My matter is completely different. A man named Shivashankar deceived me in a property dispute, he was the one who created the Ananya Bhatt identity. He is no longer alive, and I have moved on from that issue. Nothing in life is permanent, and I don’t wish to discuss it any further. I am not part of any gang’.
She was quoted by Udayavani as saying she made a mistake by filing the complaint which caused her pain, adding that she lived a clean life all these years but was consumed by guilt.
‘I will go to Dharmasthala to seek forgiveness. Lord Manjunatha and Annappa Swamy will guide me to the right path,’ she reportedly said.
Meanwhile, the Dharmasthala Dourjanya Virodhi Vedike announced protests in 60 locations in the state on Thursday.
It is reported citing Vartha Bharathi that a demonstration titled ‘Nyayakkagi Janagraha 2025’ was carried out against various alleged illegal activities in the temple.
The Dharmasthala mass burial case emerged after a former sanitation worker alleged that more than 100 bodies, including young women and girls, had been buried in secret graves 1995 and 2014, citing 13 sites along the Netravathi River.
