Bengaluru: The Karnataka Lokayukta police registered a case against the former chief minister and BJP leader BS Yediyurappa along with several members of his family in a corruption case, PTI reported.

Police registered the case on Friday after a special courts order to book Ydiyurappa and the co-accused, including the leader's son BY Vijayendra, who is the BJP state Vice President, his grandson, and the then BDA commissioner.

The FIR included various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code. The FIR was based on a complaint by a social media activist TJ Abraham, who alleged the accused had obtained bribes in return for granting BDA (Bangalore Development Authority) contracts.

The case is about awarding a tender for constructing BDA apartments at Konadasapura in Bidarahalli in the city during Yediyurappa's tenure as CM from 2019 to 2021. Allegations suggest that the accused took kickbacks from a builder, and the same were routed through shell companies owned by them.
