Landslides in Himachal Pradesh kill 3; 7 missing
text_fieldsShimla: In severe landslides, three people and five houses collapsed in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Heavy rains caused heavy damage in various districts of the state. Cloudbursts and floods occurred in various parts of the state, while landslides occurred in four places on Saturday. The landslides occurred in Shimla, Sirmaur, Kinnaur and Aghar.
Several roads were damaged, and seven people were missing from the landslide in Aghar. The missing are workers who came from Jammu and Kashmir. The bodies of three people have been recovered. The landslide is reported to be about 200 meters deep. There are indications that houses in the area are at risk. After receiving the information, the authorities reached the spot and started rescue operations.

An extensive search is being carried out for the missing. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the rescue operations will be carried out in all possible ways. The Meteorological Department said that heavy rains will continue in the northern states this month, and people should be alert. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu declared the state a disaster area during the monsoon session of the state assembly following heavy rains. He said that the damage caused by the disasters, including cloudbursts, landslides, flash floods, etc., was worth over Rs 3,000 crore. He also informed us that there was significant damage to roads, bridges, drinking water, and power stations.
More than 300 people have died in the state so far due to adverse weather conditions. According to the State Disaster Management Authority, 194 people died in rain-related incidents such as landslides, floods, drownings and lightning strikes. Meanwhile, 161 people died in road accidents.
