The release of a Special Investigative Team report on the Lahmipur Kheri killings has revealed that it was not a 'negkigent act' but a 'planned conspiracy' said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament today. As such, be called for the 'immediate' sacking of Uttar Pradesh Home Minister Ajay Mishra whose son is one of the prime accused in the killing of farmers during the protests held in October.

"The government should immediately sack the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ajay Kumar Mishra, and ensure justice is delivered to the families of the victims," write Rahul Gandhi in his notice to the Lok Sabha.

The opposition has stepped up demands for the sacking of Ajay Mishra, who remains a Union Minister despite the allegations against his son, who was jailed in October. The minister met with his son in jail yesterday and appeared no close to resigning.

A damning probe report from the SIT has given fodder for the Opposition against the UP government and the ruling BJP party at the Center, with the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha forced to adjourn after Opposition parties protested by shouting slogans and walking out.

Ashish Mishra, son of Ajay Mishra, and 12 others are accused of deliberately driving an SUV into crowds of farmers protesting the violence in Tikunia that broke out when a group of farmers was protesting the visit of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to Union minister Ajay Mishra's native place. Following the SIT report, a court in Uttar Pradesh agreed to add charges of attempted murder to replace lesser charges.
