Kolkata hospital declines treatment to Bangladeshi patients

JN Ray Hospital in Manicktala, north Kolkata, has announced it will no longer treat patients from Bangladesh.
The decision, effective immediately, comes as a response to what the hospital alleges are insults directed at the Indian flag by Bangladeshi nationals.
Hospital official Subhranshu Bhakt stated on Friday that the move was prompted by anti-India sentiments and protests over alleged atrocities against minority Hindus in Bangladesh. "We have decided not to admit Bangladeshi patients until further notice. This is a stand against the disrespect shown toward India and its flag," Bhakt said.
He also called on other hospitals in Kolkata to follow suit as a mark of solidarity.
Highlighting India’s historical role in Bangladesh’s independence, Bhakt expressed disappointment over the perceived growing anti-India sentiment in the neighboring country. "India played a key role in their liberation. Yet, we are seeing gestures of disrespect. This decision is our protest, and we hope other institutions will support this stance," he added.
