Bengaluru: As the cloud of rumours mounted over the Karnataka government on a possible leadership change, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa came out hinting his proposed resignation after July 25.

He is said to have told reporters that he would abide by the BJP high command's decision and will play role in strengthening the party and vowed to bring the party back to power in the state.

This statement of Yediyurappa led to the speculation that he would put his paper after July 25, and a new Chief Minister will take charge for two years before the term ends.

Yediyurappa lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and our national president JP Nadda for giving him positions despite turning 78 years old since there is no one who crossed 75 years of age in the party holding any position.

Amid the rumours of his impending removal from the Chief Ministerial post, the Lingayat community, including seers and even Congress leaders of his community, has been seen giving the ground strength of support.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, a delegation of seers from various mutts met Yediyurappa at his official residence and urged him to complete his term.

Taking to Twitter Yediyurappa said that "I am privileged to be a loyal worker of the BJP. It is my utmost honour to serve the party with the highest standards of ethics and behaviour. I urge everyone to act in accordance with party ethics and not indulge in protests/indiscipline that is disrespectful and embarrassing for the party."
