K Vijayanand appointed Andhra Pradesh's new chief secretary
text_fieldsAmaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has named K Vijayanand as the new chief secretary of the state, following the retirement of the incumbent, Neerabh Kumar Prasad, on December 31.
The appointment was formalized in a government order issued late Sunday night by Secretary to the Government (Political) S Suresh Kumar. According to the order, Vijayanand, serving as Special Chief Secretary to the Government in the Energy Department, has been elevated to the position of chief secretary.
Vijayanand, a 1992 batch IAS officer, brings a wealth of administrative experience to his new role. He previously served as Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Ltd (APGENCO) from 2022 and also held the position of Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation (APTRANSCO) for a period starting in 2023. In addition to these roles, he has handled various other key assignments during his career.
He began his bureaucratic journey in 1993 as an Assistant Collector in the erstwhile Adilabad district of united Andhra Pradesh. Over the years, he has established a strong reputation for effective governance, particularly in the energy sector.
As he assumes the role of chief secretary, Vijayanand is expected to play a pivotal part in steering the state administration and addressing Andhra Pradesh’s governance priorities.
