JIH chief condemns Red Fort blast, urges reflection on polarisation and stereotyping
text_fieldsSyed Sadatullah Husaini, National President of Jamat-e-Islami Hind, on Saturday condemned the car bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort that claimed 13 lives and injured several others, asserting that no religion in the world justifies such violence, and he also criticised the stereotyping and targeting of certain communities in the aftermath of the attack.
Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Husaini said, “We condemn the radicalisation, extremism and violence. Radicalisation is not an answer to any problem; no motive or goal in this world can justify this, and no religion in this world can allow suicide bombing.”
He emphasised that violence in public spaces is a crime against humanity and urged all citizens to condemn it, noting that the loss of innocent lives and attacks in central locations such as Lal Qila highlight serious shortcomings in security arrangements.
Husaini pointed out that the recent incidents, including an explosion at Nowgam police station that killed nine people and the recovery of large quantities of explosives, indicate the urgent need for a thorough review and strengthening of the nation’s security system.
Husaini also warned against polarisation, stating that stereotyping and harassment of certain communities in the wake of terrorist attacks deepen divisions and play into the hands of extremists, adding that unity and collective condemnation of violence are essential to prevent terrorists from achieving their goal of societal fragmentation.
He urged the public and authorities alike to reflect on these troubling trends and to ensure that the nation does not fall into the trap of communal or social division, emphasising that every citizen has a role in preventing the victory of terrorism through misunderstanding and bias.
