Israel registers protest against Sanjay Rauts Hitler comment on social media

New Delhi: The Israeli Embassy has strongly protested against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader politician Sanjay Raut's controversial social media post, deeming it "anti-Semitic." Raut, a prominent figure from the Shiv Sena party, re-shared a report detailing the dire conditions at Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital, attributing the situation to Israel's actions.

The post, which has since been deleted, featured Raut's commentary in Hindi, roughly translating “he now understands why Hitler hated Jews so much”. The report highlighted the plight of premature babies in Al-Shifa Hospital, where essential supplies were allegedly cut off by Israeli forces.

The Israeli Embassy, expressing disappointment, lodged a formal protest with India's Ministry of External Affairs and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The embassy condemned Raut's comments justifying the Holocaust and described them as "anti-Semitic."

This incident is part of Raut's ongoing commentary on the Israel-Hamas conflict, where he previously drew parallels between the ruling BJP and the militant group. He also suggested a connection between India's support for Israel and the alleged supply of the Pegasus "snooping" software.

The Israel-Hamas conflict, initiated by Israel's offensive in Gaza after a border crossing by Hamas militants, has resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and over 200 abductions. Gaza's Hamas-run Health Ministry reports a staggering toll, with more than 14,000 casualties, including over 5,000 children, in the wake of Israel's attacks.
