Prayagraj: The house of Welfare Party leader Mohammad Javed, who was arrested for protesting the insult-on-Prophet, began to be demolished. His was being demolished on the grounds that it was built illegally. Earlier, the local government had issued a notice asking that the house be demolished and vacated before 11 p.m.

Several police officers had been stationed in front of Javed's house since early morning. The local government forcibly evicted all Muslim families in the area.

Javed was arrested by the police yesterday on charges of involvement in the attack on Prayag Raj. They alleged that Javed was the mastermind behind the attack. About 60 people, including his wife and daughter, were taken into police custody around midnight yesterday. The family had alleged that Javed was taken into custody without a warrant and that the police had taken away the women and others in the middle of the night.

Javed's daughter Afrin Fatima has lodged a complaint with the National Commission for Women (NCW) alleging illegal custody. According to her complaint, the family was arrested by the Prayagraj police, who arrived without any notice or warrant.

"I am writing this out of concern for the safety of my father Javed Mohammad, my mother Parveen Fatima and my sister Sumayya Fatima, who was taken into illegal custody by the Prayagraj Police last night. The police took my family without any warning or warrant. We have not yet been able to locate them," Afrin said in her complaint.

UP police have accused Javed and his daughter Afrin of spreading falsehoods. Prayagraj police said that Afrin, who is studying at JNU, is notorious.

Afrin is a former president of the Aligarh University Union and the current JNU Union Councilor. She is currently the National Secretary of the Fraternity Movement.
