Davos: Billionaire philanthropist and co-founder of Microsoft Bill Gates met with the Mansukh Mandaviya, the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Switzerland's Davos. During the meeting he applauded the Indian government's vaccination drive that made it possible to vaccinate a large percentage of the population.

He was appreciating India's use of technology to derive health outcomes during the Covid-19 pandemic, and its subsequent vaccine drive.

Mr Gates said, "It was great to meet Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and exchange perspectives on global health. India's success with the vaccination drive and the use of technology to drive health outcomes at scale offers many lessons for the world."

According to NDTV, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya the Union Health Minister on May 25 shared photos with Bill Gates and stated, "A pleasure to interact with @Billgates at #WEF22. He appreciated India's success in #Covid19 management and mammoth vaccination efforts."

Mr Mandaviya in another tweet further added, "We discussed a wide range of subjects relating to healthcare including the promotion of digital health, disease control management, creation of mRNA regional hubs, and strengthening the development of affordable and quality diagnostics & medical devices, etc."

India had launched the largest vaccination drive, vaccinating about 88 percent of its adult population ,according to the Heath Minister. The country largely relied on the Serum Institute of India's Covishield and homegrown Covaxin for the vaccinations.
