Bihar: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said that students in India will be taught the "corrected" version of Indian history under the National Education Policy (NEP) from Vasant Panchami on January 26.

He was speaking at a programme organised by the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) and RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana.

He declared that the books are being re-published with new compositions and these books will give clarity to the world about India. "The NEP will provide us with many opportunities. Mother tongue has been given priority in the NEP. Imparting education without giving priority to the mother tongue is meaningless."

He added that India must give a new global perspective to the country's ancient culture and civilisation in the 21st century. "The G20 presidency is providing India with a golden opportunity to present its heritage to the world. We must make the G20 a celebration as well as an opportunity to showcase India's art, culture, and civilisation to the world. These books will be available in digital modes also."

He further said that the NDA government is taking measures to correct the aberrations in the written history of India. "The Modi Government is endeavouring to promote our glorious traditions and cultural past to new generations so that they can cherish our timeless ethos." He urged historians and research scholars to present their views on history on the basis of scientific facts and evidence.

The government is also planning to establish 260 educational channels in the next couple of years. "200 educational channels will be dedicated to school education and 60 TV channels for Higher Education which will help in the extension of education through a new mode," said the minister. "This network would be unparalleled and the largest in the world. Using the digital technology infrastructure India might become a leader in the segment of education," he added.
