Indian-origin woman from Germany ties knot with Pakistani man she met abroad

A Sikh woman of Indian descent from Germany married a guy from Pakistan's Punjab state, the most recent case of marriage between people from the two estranged neighbouring countries.
Jaspreet Kaur, now known as Zainab, exchanged vows with Ali Arsalan, as evidenced by the certificate of admission of Islam provided by Jamia Hanafia, Sialkot.
Kaur is originally from Ludhiana, Punjab, and converted to Islam at Jamia Hanafia Sialkot prior to her marriage, when she took on her new Islamic name.
According to reports, the pair met while abroad, and Arsalan extended an invitation for Kaur to visit Pakistan, which resulted in their marriage, Indian Express reported.
The marriage took place during Kaur's religious journey in Pakistan, which began on January 16.
Kaur, who also has an Indian passport, was issued a single-entry visa till April 15.
The Jamia Hanafia's administrators stated that Kaur is one of nearly 2,000 non-Muslims who have accepted Islam at their institution.
Marriages between Pakistani and Indian nationals, the two estranged neighbours, frequently make news, as the two countries' ties are fragile, particularly over the Kashmir dispute.
Last year, Anju, an Indian girl, went to Pakistan to marry a Muslim guy. Before that, a Pakistani woman named Seema travelled to India to marry a Hindu man.
